The tradition of the Prom Garter began many years ago, and has grown into quite a phenomenon in recent years.  The tradition states that during the first slow dance of the night (after all of the fun, fabulous photos are taken with friends showing off the garters), the girl and her date will stand facing away from each other, allowing her to remove the garter from her leg.  The Prom Couple then turns to face each other, and she places the garter on her dates right arm; they then dance the night away!
